Two people died in a helicopter crash in the Perm Region: what is known
As a result of the crash of a private Robinson R44 helicopter on the territory of the Ashatli Park recreation center in the Perm Region on January 7, two people were killed, one of them a former deputy and owner of a transport company Ilyas Gimadutdinov. Rosaviatsia classified the incident as an aviation accident, and the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case and is considering a technical malfunction and piloting error as preliminary causes. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
What happened
The Robinson R44 Raven I helicopter crashed on January 7 in the Bardymsky municipal District of the Perm Region. According to the Izvestia source, the aircraft belonged to Tattranscom LLC and was making an unauthorized flight. Initially, it was reported about the death of one person — the pilot, and the passenger was examined by doctors on the spot.
However, later the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia clarified that two victims of the disaster were killed. About 40 rescuers and 14 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences at the scene, and there was no damage on the ground.
Eyewitnesses told Izvestia about the first minutes after the fall. Olga Kravtsova, who was at a nearby ski base, reported hearing strange noises and screams. As she approached the lake, she saw a badly damaged helicopter with bent blades and a tilted tail. Immediately after the incident, the Ashatli Park recreation center was closed to visitors.
Progress of the investigation
The Transport Prosecutor's Office promptly organized an investigation into the crash. A transport prosecutor went to the scene to coordinate the actions of law enforcement agencies. The Federal Air Transport Agency officially classified the incident as an aviation accident.
The representative of the department, Artyom Korenyako, said that the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), with the participation of the Volga Federal Aviation Administration, would investigate the causes. The key goal is to identify the causes of the disaster and take measures to prevent them in the future.
Consequences and versions of what happened
On January 8, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case into the deaths of people in a helicopter crash under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence").
Investigators are considering several main versions. In particular, possible violations of safety rules by the pilot who operated the helicopter, as well as a technical malfunction of the aircraft itself, are being studied. To establish all the circumstances, law enforcement officers are carrying out comprehensive measures with the involvement of aviation specialists, interrogating witnesses and will appoint the necessary examinations.
A source told Izvestia that Ilyas Gimadutdinov, an ex-deputy and owner of Tattranscom, was one of those killed in the plane crash. His company is engaged in cargo transportation, including for the oil and gas industry.
