Ukraine's financial requirements for the next 10 years are comparable to 40 years of pension payments in Hungary. This was announced on January 8 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"Ukraine is asking for so much money for the next 10 years, from which it would be possible to pay Hungarian pensions for 40 years, or the whole family for 60 years. That's what the $800 billion that the Ukrainian prime minister wants to receive from Brussels means," he wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, the organization is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The Hungarian Prime Minister referred to the report of the Hungarian Minister for European Union Affairs (EU) Janos Bock on Europe's plans to distribute this amount, which was heard at a government meeting. According to Orban, to cover these costs, Brussels proposes to cancel the 13th and 14th pensions, reduce family benefits and introduce a progressive income tax for Hungarians.

On January 6, Orban called Ukraine a "homunculus" that constantly asks for food. According to him, because of this, Brussels tried to confiscate frozen Russian assets, and now plans to "fundamentally transform" the future EU budget. He added that such plans are supported by the Hungarian opposition party Tisa.

On the same day, Orban noted that Europe would harm its people by providing financial assistance to Ukraine, because it itself is in recession. He noted that those who pay this price will harm their own people, and eventually society will begin to resist politics.

The Hungarian Prime Minister said yesterday that Hungary does not intend to finance Ukraine in 2026 and opposes EU loans for these purposes. He stated that Budapest would not support initiatives related to the continuation of the conflict, and was counting on its resolution, as well as the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions. In addition, Hungary will continue to oppose EU plans to ban Russian energy imports.
