Users from Ukraine actively searched for Christmas greetings in Russian. This was reported on January 7 by the Ukrainian newspaper Strana.ua", referring to data from the Google Trends service.

The publication noted that according to search statistics, on January 7, the phrases "Merry Christmas", "Merry Christmas" and "Merry Christmas cards" were among the popular queries from the territory of Ukraine.

The most popular request that day was information about a football match between the Italian clubs Lecce and Roma, with the fourth place being taken by the request "Programmer's Day".

On December 26, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recommended that the government develop draft laws aimed at further restricting the use of the Russian language in all spheres of life. Among the proposed measures is the introduction of technologies to identify and block Russian—language content in the Ukrainian media space, as well as the introduction of liability for violations of language policy.

Ukrainian MP Volodymyr Vyatrovych announced on December 3 that the rada had supported a bill that excludes the Russian language from the list of those subject to protection in the country. He added that 264 deputies voted for the adoption of the law.

In November, it became known that Russian is increasingly being spoken in schools in Kiev, despite the policy of local authorities. According to the results of the study, almost a quarter (24%) of teachers communicate in Russian in lessons, and another 40% during recess.
