Rublev reached the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Hong Kong

Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev defeated Chinese Wu Yibing in the second round of the ATP 250 tournament in Hong Kong on January 7 and reached the quarterfinals.

The meeting ended with a score 3:6, 6:2, 6:1 in favor of the Russian.

In the next round, Rublev, seeded number three at the tournament, will face Portuguese tennis player Nuno Borges, who is eighth.

Rublev is ranked 16th in the ATP world rankings and is the current champion of the Hong Kong tournament. He has 17 ATP singles titles to his credit, a victory at the 2021 Olympics in mixed doubles and titles in team competitions. The ATP 250 tournament in Hong Kong is held on a hard surface and will end on January 11.

Former world number two Vera Zvonareva made it to the finals of the ITF W100 tournament in Dubai on December 6. In the semifinal match, Zvonareva was stronger than 16-year-old British athlete Mika Stoysavljevic, who ranks 342nd in the world ranking. The meeting lasted 3 hours and 8 minutes and ended with a score 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 6:4.
