The share of Ukrainians who do not trust NATO has grown over the year
In one year, the number of Ukrainian citizens who do not trust NATO and the United States has increased dramatically. This is evidenced by the survey data of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), published on the official website on January 7.
According to the data, only a quarter of Ukrainians in December 2024 did not trust NATO, but in the last month of 2025, the number of Ukrainian citizens who did not trust the organization was 43%.
At the same time, the share of those who do not trust Washington has increased significantly, from 24% in December 2024 to 52% in December 2025.
The study was conducted from November 26 to December 29, 2025 by telephone survey in the territory controlled by Kiev, and 1001 respondents participated in it. The statistical error does not exceed 4.1%.
According to the results of a survey published on January 2, it became known that in Ukraine, since 2022, the proportion of citizens who allow territorial concessions has tripled. It was noted that in 2022, only 10% of respondents agreed to such conditions. At the same time, according to the institute, if 82% of Ukrainians surveyed opposed territorial concessions in 2022, then by December last year their share had decreased to 53%.
Before that, on December 14, 2025, it became known that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, allowed the country to refuse to join NATO as a compromise.
