In Russia, summer residents are required to combat the spread of dangerous weeds, such as Sosnovsky hogweed, otherwise they will be fined. This was announced on January 6 by State Duma deputy Nikita Chaplin, chairman of the Union of Summer Residents of the Moscow region.

"Now they (Summer residents — Ed.) are obliged to combat the spread of dangerous weeds, such as Sosnovsky hogweed. The law provides for administrative liability for non—compliance with these requirements," he said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
