An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in the Japanese prefecture of Shimane. This was reported on January 6 on the website of the country's Main Meteorological Department.

The source of the tremors was at a depth of 10 km, there is no threat of a tsunami. In the area of the epicenter, the strength of the tremors reached 5+ on a seven-point scale in Japan.

As noted by RIA Novosti, the first earthquake was followed by three more tremors with a magnitude of 4.5, 5.1 and 3.8. At the moment, there is no information about casualties and damage.
