The United States did not notify the UN about the operation in Venezuela
The United Nations has not received an official explanation from the United States for its military operation in Venezuela. This was announced on January 5 at a briefing by the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric.
According to him, the world organization's secretariat has not received any notifications from Washington.
"I can say that we have not received any official notifications from the United States substantiating what happened," Dujarric said.
He also evaded the question of whether the UN considers the US actions as the abduction of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Nicolas Maduro, without giving a legal assessment of what happened.
Earlier, on January 3, it was reported that US President Donald Trump announced a successful large-scale strike on Venezuela and announced the capture and removal of Nicolas Maduro and his wife from the country. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called this operation evidence of the destruction of the post-war world order, and the Russian Foreign Ministry called on the United States to release Maduro and move towards a diplomatic settlement.
On January 4, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez announced the death of most of the presidential security personnel as a result of US actions.
