Trump did not believe that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had hit Putin's residence
American leader Donald Trump said on January 4 that he did not believe that Ukraine would strike at the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding that the situation required additional verification.
"Something happened quite close [to the residence of the President of Russia]. But it had nothing to do [with the attack on the residence]," Trump said during a conversation with reporters aboard his plane bound for Washington from West Palm Beach (Florida).
The US president also said that at the time of his first comment on the incident, he did not have accurate information, thereby explaining his condemnation of Kiev for the attack on Putin's residence.
In addition, the American leader expressed the hope that Russia and Ukraine will be able to resolve the conflict.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on December 29 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had attempted a drone attack on Putin's residence in the Novgorod region. He noted that Russia's negotiating position would be reviewed in light of Kiev's attempt to attack the residence of the Russian president.
