After their actions in Venezuela, the United States lost the right to even formally reproach Russia for any of its actions. This was announced on January 4 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy head of the Russian Security Council.

"Now they (the United States — Ed.) have nothing to even formally reproach our country with," Medvedev stressed.

Medvedev also called the events in Venezuela an example of the "right of the strongest." He also warned that the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro would add to the "fierce hatred" of the United States in Latin America.

He also added that the actions of the United States in Venezuela could have led to a declaration of war if a stronger country had been subjected to such aggression.

In addition, Medvedev said that the reaction of European countries to what is happening in Venezuela is a classic case of double standards. According to him, that is why the Europeans "babble about mythical support for democracy" and try to justify a blatant violation of international law.

On January 3, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had successfully launched a large-scale strike against Venezuela. He noted that Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife Celia Flores were captured and taken out of the territory of the state.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the American leadership to release Maduro. In addition, the Ministry also stressed the need to create conditions for resolving existing problems between the parties through diplomatic means.

The American leader later stated that there was extensive evidence of Maduro's alleged crimes. So, the president of Venezuela, according to his information, personally supervised the activities of the Cartel de los Soles (cartel of the suns), which transported drugs to the United States.

Rallies have begun in New York against the backdrop of the start of the US military operation in Venezuela and the detention of Maduro. The footage shows local residents waving Venezuelan flags.
