Frosts of up to -25 degrees will arrive in Moscow by the end of next week. This was announced on January 4 by Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center.

"By the weekend, the first 20-degree frosts will hit, when a low—cloud Scandinavian anticyclone will reach the capital region, and the night temperature columns may drop to -17... -22, in some places to -25," the forecaster wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to his forecast, on Monday, January 5, the temperature in Moscow will not be lower than -2...-5 degrees, and by Christmas it will drop to -4...-7 degrees. The gradual cooling will continue, and by the weekend frosts will be 8-10 degrees below the climatic norm for the middle of winter.

Tishkovets reported in December that by the end of January 2026, snowdrifts in the capital region could grow to 33 cm. He also recalled the temperature norm this month, so, according to the expert, at night the thermometer can show an average of -12.3 degrees, and during the day -6.3 degrees.
