The heads of State of the Association of Caribbean States of CARICOM held an emergency meeting amid reports of US military strikes on Venezuela. This was announced on January 3 on the Facebook page of the association (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

"The heads of Government of CARICOM held a meeting early on January 3 following reports of military action in Venezuela. CARICOM is actively monitoring the situation, which is of serious concern in the region and may have consequences for neighboring countries," the statement said.

In addition, the current President of Chile, Gabriel Borich, on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter) condemned the US military actions in Venezuela and opposed external interference. He also expressed the State's commitment to the fundamental principles of international law.

"The Venezuelan crisis must be resolved through dialogue and with the support of multilateral cooperation, not through violence or foreign interference," he said.

On the same day, American leader Donald Trump announced that the United States had successfully launched a large-scale strike on Venezuela. He also noted that Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his family have been captured and taken out of the country. Trump also added that the operation was conducted with the participation of American law enforcement agencies. The Russian Foreign Ministry called Maduro's possible removal an encroachment on Venezuela's sovereignty.

After the US strikes, a state of emergency was declared in Venezuela. The Republic has also requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.
