U.S. interference in Iran's internal processes could lead to the destabilization of the entire Middle East and cause serious damage to American interests in the region. This was announced on January 2 by the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Larijani.

"We believe that the protesting entrepreneurs are not related to destructive elements, and [US President Donald ] Trump should understand that US interference in this internal issue is tantamount to destabilizing the entire region and destroying American interests," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The Iranian politician also said that after the publications of the American president, it became clear who, in his opinion, seeks to influence the internal situation in Iran. He blamed the leadership of the United States for a possible escalation and warned of the risks to the US military.

Earlier in the day, the American leader said that the United States is ready to retaliate if Iran kills peaceful protesters.

In December 2025, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called on his foreign colleagues to condemn the US president for his threats against Tehran. He called such statements a gross violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations (UN).
