Before the onset of cold weather, summer residents should take several important measures to protect their property, including draining the water from the systems, de-energizing the house and checking the electrical network. This was announced on December 31 by Nikita Chaplin, deputy of the State Duma (State Duma), chairman of the Union of summer residents of the Moscow region.

"It is necessary to completely drain the water from all systems, including storage tanks, boilers, as well as shut off and drain all external water taps. For systems that cannot be completely drained, it is recommended to use modern frost—free taps or a compressor for purging pipes," he said in an interview withГазетой.ги ".

Chaplin also focused on the power grid. In case of prolonged absence of residents, it is advisable to de-energize the house by turning off the input circuit breaker in the electrical panel. If you need to leave power on for alarm or other purposes, check the condition of the wiring, sockets, and switches for damage.

Additionally, the deputy recommended to visit the site periodically to clean the roof from snow and ice. The accumulation of snow on the roof can create a dangerous load on the structure and lead to leaks. It is also important to clear the downpipes of ice to ensure a normal outflow of water.

To protect the bark of young trees from rodents, it is recommended to update the whitewash of the trunks or install protective nets, the deputy said. In winter, dachas can become a target for intruders, so Chaplin advises strengthening security by replacing locks on doors and windows, as well as installing additional metal linings, shutters or grilles. External lighting with motion sensors will perform a security and warning function.

In addition, the deputy recommends removing valuable items from the site, such as gardening tools and barbecues, so that they do not attract attention.

According to a study by the financial marketplace "Compare", which was reviewed by Izvestia on December 30, 84% of Russians prefer a family vacation format. Only 3% of participants plan to celebrate the New Year with friends, while 6% plan to celebrate alone, and another 6% have not decided on their plans.
