Russia and Lithuania have signed a five-year agreement on gas transit to Kaliningrad
Russian and Lithuanian gas companies have signed a five-year agreement on the transit of natural gas to the Kaliningrad region. This was announced on December 29 by the operator of Lithuanian gas networks, Amber Grid.
"A new agreement with Gazprom on transit services has been signed for five years," TASS quoted the company as saying.
It is noted that the price of transit services was set by the Lithuanian State Council for Energy Regulation. At the same time, the income level is set at €30 million in 2026.
In addition, the previous contract, valid until the end of 2025, brought Lithuania from €13 million to €20 million, depending on the category of gas transported. The new agreement is valid until December 31, 2030.
In February, the Baltic countries disconnected from the joint energy system with Russia, which had existed since Soviet times. However, the withdrawal of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia from the BRELL did not affect the parallel operation of the energy systems of the Russian Federation and Belarus and the functioning of the energy system in the Kaliningrad region.
