Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes on the port of Mukalla in Yemen
The Saudi-led Arab coalition carried out airstrikes on the port of Mukalla in eastern Yemen, destroying a cargo of weapons and military equipment delivered from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the separatists. This was reported on December 30 by the Saudi state news agency SPA, citing Major General Turki Al-Maliki.
"We carried out a limited airstrike on the port of Mukalla in the province of Hadramaut, which hit a cargo of weapons and military equipment unloaded from two ships arriving from the UAE," the publication says.
Al-Maliki explained that the airstrike was carried out in accordance with humanitarian law and established international norms.
A few days earlier, on December 27, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for restraint amid the ongoing escalation in Yemen. At that time, he expressed gratitude to the UAE and Saudi Arabia for their diplomatic leadership in this matter, which also meets American interests.
