In St. Petersburg, a verdict was passed in the case of large-scale embezzlement of subsidies from the Ministry of Industry and Trade

The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg has issued a guilty verdict in the case of embezzlement of almost 100 million rubles allocated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia in the form of subsidies. This was announced on December 26 by the joint press service of the city courts.

"The court sentenced Melnikov to 3.5 years in a general regime penal colony with a fine of 900,000 rubles for state revenue. <...> Kazak to two years in a general regime penal colony," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

In addition, both defendants are prohibited from engaging in activities related to the receipt and use of budgetary funds in legal entities for a period of two years. Melnikov and Kazak were taken into custody directly in the courtroom.

The investigation found that in the period from October 2018 to December 2020, the defendants committed embezzlement of funds provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as part of compensation for research and development work in priority areas of the civilian industry, adds "Газета.Ru ".

It is noted that in order to implement this plan, the defendants instructed subordinates who did not know about the intentions to prepare and submit deliberately falsified documents to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the participation of NITI Avangard in the tender procedure.

On the same day, the Leninsky District Court of Kursk sentenced Maxim Vasiliev, a former deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma, to five years in prison in a case of embezzlement. It was noted that the court found him guilty of embezzlement of budget funds intended for the construction of fortifications in the region. Vasiliev was also fined 800 thousand rubles.

The criminal case against Vasiliev was submitted to the Kursk court on December 5. It was noted that the total amount of damage from the embezzlement of funds amounted to more than 152 million rubles, which were allocated for the construction of strongholds in the Kursk region.
