The wife of the convicted former deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma Maxim Vasilyev resigned her parliamentary powers. This was announced on December 26 by the governor of the region, Alexander Khinstein.

"Svetlana Vasilyeva, the wife of the ex-deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma <...>, has decided to voluntarily resign as a deputy of the Kursk City Assembly," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

Earlier that day, the Leninsky District Court of Kursk sentenced Vasiliev to five years in prison in a case of embezzlement. It was noted that the court found him guilty of embezzlement of budget funds intended for the construction of fortifications in the region. Vasiliev was also fined 800 thousand rubles.
