The frontman of the cult rock band Popeda, Pate Mustajarvi, has died.

Finnish rock musician and Popeda frontman Pate Mustajarvi died at the age of 69 on Friday. This was announced on December 26 on the musician's official page on the Instagram social network (owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

"We, the loved ones, hope for peace in the midst of our deep sorrow," the publication says.

According to Tampere's largest newspaper Aamulehti, in October, musician Mustajarvi announced that he had a tumor, which forced him to cancel all scheduled performances. Next year, the artist intended to conduct a solo tour dedicated to his 70th birthday.

The most famous project of the musician Mustajarvi is the rock band Popeda, whose name is associated with the Soviet automobile brand Pobeda, but with a deliberate mistake — through the letter P. In September 2023, Popeda held its last concert, ending 46 years of the band's existence. The farewell performance in Tampere attracted 28,000 spectators.
