Employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Transbaikalia stopped the activities of an illegal mining farm, which caused damage to a uranium mining enterprise in the Priargunsky district, estimated at more than 5 million rubles. This was announced on December 26 by the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Trans-Baikal Territory.

Law enforcement officers identified a network of specialized equipment for mining cryptocurrencies, which was powered by unauthorized connection to the electric grid of the E. P. Slavsky Priargunsky Mining and Chemical Association (PPGHO). It is clarified that the actual energy consumption was underestimated. During the searches, the security forces seized the equipment.

"The activity of an illegal mining farm has been suppressed, which caused significant material damage to PJSC PPGHO. According to preliminary estimates, the damage caused to the enterprise amounted to more than 5 million rubles," the report said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

A criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust on an especially large scale.

In St. Petersburg, on June 30, the police uncovered an underground mining farm that caused damage of almost 8 million rubles. It was clarified that it was powered through the main switchboard to a neighboring substation.
