The Russian government plans to gradually introduce a new intelligent operation model at 55 priority checkpoints by 2030. This was announced on December 25 by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Vitaly Saveliev at the opening of the renovated Kani-Kurgan automobile checkpoint in the Amur region.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the work of the Ministry of Transport in fulfilling the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve a typical time for cargo inspection at the border of up to 10 minutes.

"A system is being developed that will link all the information resources of state control bodies and switch to an intelligent, almost paperless checkpoint operation model. By 2030, such a model of operation should be phased in at 55 priority sections of the checkpoint," he said.

On November 19, the Russian government announced that a checkpoint across the Russian state border would be opened at the seaport of Mariupol in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). It was noted that this decision would allow the development of port and other infrastructure, contributing to the expansion of domestic and foreign trade, as well as the disclosure of the economic potential of the DPR.
