The US National Security Archive has published transcripts of personal talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US leader George W. Bush, which took place between 2001 and 2008. This is stated in the protocols of the American government published by the National Security Archive research organization.

These recordings reveal the key points of their relationship, including the geopolitical differences that later led to a crisis in Russian-American relations. It is noted that at the first meeting in Slovenia in 2001, despite the friendly tone, Putin immediately expressed concern about the expansion of NATO to the East.
