Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was detained in London during a protest in support of hunger strikers from the Palestine Action movement, which is banned in the UK. This was reported on December 23 by Sky News channel.

"Eco—activist Greta Thunberg was detained in central London during a demonstration in support of hunger strikers from the Palestine Action movement," the publication says.

According to the TV channel, Thunberg participated in a demonstration at the office of the Aspen Insurance company in central London. She held a placard with the inscription "I support the prisoners of Palestine Action. I am against genocide."

The protesters chose this location because the company provides services related to the defense firm Elbit Systems, which works with Israel. During the rally, two activists doused the facade of the building with red paint, which attracted the attention of the police. Soon, law enforcement officers detained the participants of the protest action.

The Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat (HS) reported on December 12 that a criminal case had been opened against Thunberg. According to HS, the eco-activist was suspected of opposing the guards. The violation occurred at the Extinction Rebellion demonstration in the center of Helsinki on June 25, 2024.

Activists of the environmental movement Extinction Rebellion organized an action in Venice on November 22. They poured a coloring agent into the Grand Canal, which turned the water a bright green color. Thunberg also joined the protest. On the Rialto Bridge, she and other activists poured paint into the canal in an attempt to draw attention to environmental issues. Later, The Telegraph newspaper reported that activists of the Extinction Rebellion environmental movement, led by Greta Thunberg, were fined €150 and banned from entering Venice for 48 hours after the protest.
