The installation of the country's main Christmas tree on the Kremlin Cathedral Square has been completed in Moscow. A century-old spruce with a height of 26 m was brought from the village of Zemlino, Ruzsky urban district, Moscow region. This was announced on December 23 in the press service of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation.

The selection of the tree, which should have an even trunk, a pyramidal shape and lush needles, was carried out over several months. This year, the fir tree is decorated in the "Frosty Pattern" style using mother-of-pearl, white, gold and blue shades. The Christmas tree is decorated with 2.5 thousand toys, 2.5 km of garlands, as well as the largest ever LED snowflakes with a diameter of up to 115 cm.

"Special attention was paid to the reliability of the structures, the quality of the lighting design and the safety of all elements. We have done everything necessary to ensure that the festive atmosphere on Cathedral Square is maintained throughout all New Year's events," said Evgeny Ganzen, Head of the Main Operational Department of Presidential Affairs.

The first jewelry was checked by students of sponsored gymnasiums participating in the ecological project "Ecolata". In addition, the Izvestia film crew was able to decorate the tree with their toy.

Residents and guests of the capital have already appreciated the festive look of the Kremlin Christmas tree. So, tourists Galina and Valery from Yaroslavl, who specially came to Moscow for five days, called the tree gorgeous and beautiful.

After the New Year holidays, the tree will traditionally be sent for processing to make souvenirs, and the seeds from its cones will be planted in different regions of Russia.

On December 17, a ten-meter spruce was decorated at the Victory Museum as part of the Victory Tree project. This year, a festive tree has been installed in the Hall of Generals. The fir tree was decorated with toys in white, blue and red colors, as well as garlands and shiny bows. The top of the tree is decorated with a traditional red star.
