The average payment of self-employed debtors to banks and microfinance organizations in favor of collection agencies reached a three-year high, amounting to 6870 rubles. This was reported on December 23 by the newspaper Vedomosti, citing data from the collection agencies PKB and ID Collect.

"The average payment to collectors from self-employed debtors of banks and microfinance organizations (MFIs) has reached a three-year high: according to the results of 10 months of 2025, it amounted to 6870 rubles, an increase of 9% compared to the same period a year ago," the publication says.

At the same time, the self-employed have been paying collectors more than ordinary borrowers for the third year in a row. In 2025 and 2024, their average payment exceeded the payments of "classic" bank customers by 23%, and in 2023 — by 15%. For comparison, the average payment of other individuals this year was 5,590 rubles.

It is noted that with higher payment discipline, the average amount of overdue debt owed by the self-employed is significantly lower. For 10 months of 2025, it amounted to about 70 thousand rubles, while for ordinary borrowers of banks, the average overdue debt reached 217.3 thousand rubles, Vedomosti writes.

As explained by Alexey Velizhanin, General Director of the Intel Collection collection agency, the high responsibility of the self-employed is associated with their dependence on credit history. For many of them, access to loans is crucial for continuing their business activities. In addition, it is almost impossible to hide income from the self—employed - all income is automatically recorded in the My Taxes application, which makes the bankruptcy procedure much more complicated.

On August 31, Artyom Sheikin, First Deputy head of the Federation Council Committee on State Construction, announced the entry into force of new measures regulating the activities of collectors. It was clarified that the changes will take effect on September 1, 2025 and will be aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens' rights and increasing transparency in debt collection.
