The coming year 2026 will bring drastic changes in the philosophy of interior design, shifting the focus from fleeting fashion to creating whole and meaningful spaces. Fyodor Vasiliev, the founder and CEO of GLAVSNAB, told Izvestia about this on December 22.

According to him, the key trend will be the concept of full immersion, which involves covering not only the walls, but also the ceiling with a single canvas or style. At the same time, the accent wall will fade into the background as an outdated technique, giving way to an atmosphere that envelops a person from all sides.

"Intrusive and superficial solutions, such as monotonous geometric patterns, flashy floral prints and cheap imitations of brick or concrete, will be replaced by complex multi—layered works where the quality of the material and the depth of texture are more important than the brightness of the pattern," the specialist said.

The color palette will also undergo major changes: not cold gray shades, but warm and deep tones inspired by nature will become dominant. The base will be saturated neutral colors — espresso, umber, shades of wood, ochre and warm beige, creating a sense of security. They will be complemented by muted green tones, and deep blue, plum and smoky brown will be used for accents.

At the same time, tactile sensations will come to the fore, which will increase the demand for natural materials: wallpaper made of linen, sisal, grass cloth, handmade paper and fine veneer. Such materials not only visually warm the space, but also improve acoustics, creating a comfortable sound background.

"An important trend will be the abandonment of gloss in favor of a noble, subtle gloss, reminiscent of the iridescence of "liquid silk", the shimmer of mica or noble patina. Complex reliefs imitating Venetian plaster, woven tapestries or textured paint will also be in favor. These materials meet the demand for "lively" interiors that soothe, give comfort and have their own character," Vasiliev shared.

Environmental friendliness will also move to a new level: instead of literal prints with leaves, artistic botanical motifs in the style of ancient tapestries, panoramic forest landscapes and stylized foliage in a subdued palette will gain popularity. High-quality imitations of stone and wood will remain in demand, but the key factor will be precisely the high level of execution.

On November 29, Oleg Silkin, a real estate lawyer, told us what needs to be done to avoid losses when buying real estate with the risks of fraud under the "grandmother's apartments" scheme. So, experts suggest two ways of safety net, the principles of which are also described in the novel "12 chairs".
