Soviet and Kazakh actor Asanali Ashimov has died.
Soviet and Kazakh actor of theater and cinema, People's Artist of the USSR Asanali Ashimov died at the age of 89. Information about his death was confirmed by the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan.
"Asanali Ashimovich was a man who made an invaluable contribution to the development of national spirituality by founding the higher professional school of Kazakh theater and cinematography," the department's Telegram channel says.
The Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan noted that the artistic images of the artist, his directing and teaching activities occupy a special place "in the history of home art."
The actor was born on May 8, 1937 in the village of Zhayilma. His filmography includes dozens of roles, including the chekist Chadyarov in the films The End of the Chieftain (1970) and The Trans—Siberian Express (1977), as well as Kamal Aikenov in the drama The Taste of Bread (1979).
