- In France, gendarmes have stepped up the protection of oyster farms due to thefts before Christmas
In France, gendarmes have stepped up security at farms with snails and oysters due to thefts before Christmas. This was reported by BFMTV with reference to the representative of the gendarmerie, Lieutenant Colonel Ervan Koiffar.
"We are doubling our vigilance, as some sought—after projects have been threatened," the newspaper quoted him as saying on December 20.
It is specified that on the eve of Christmas in France, foie gras and duck breasts began to be stolen, as well as thefts from oyster farms. According to the TV channel, on the night of December 11-12, 250 kg of foie gras and duck breasts were stolen from a farmer in Benasse, as these products are especially popular during the holidays, especially in the south-west of the country.
As Koiffara noted, as part of the fight against theft, the gendarmerie is carrying out a large-scale deployment of troops throughout the territory and strengthening personnel by mobilizing reservists. In addition, gendarmes also visit farms for free, inspect facilities, and offer manufacturers to raise fences or install motion sensors in certain locations.
La Stampa newspaper reported on November 3 that gang members who had been stealing clothes from the Versace warehouse for five years had been uncovered in Italy. It was noted that the group consisted of eight people who committed thefts from 2021 to 2025. According to the publication, the investigation began after an employee of the brand noticed a Versace hoodie on the Vinted platform.
