Russian forward Artemiy Panarin beat two-time Stanley Cup winner Pavel Datsyuk to become the 11th Russian hockey player in the number of goals scored in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.

In the match with Philadelphia, which ended on Saturday, December 20, with a score of 5:4 in shootouts, Artemy Panarin scored two goals and became the author of the winning shootout. Now Panarin has 315 goals, while Datsyuk has 314.

Panarin became the 11th Russian hockey player in the number of goals in the NHL. At the moment, Russian striker Alexander Ovechkin is leading the list with 911 goals.

The New York Rangers striker is 34 years old. In his NHL career, Panarin also played for Chicago and Columbus. In Russia, he played for Vityaz, Ak Bars and SKA, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup in 2015. Panarin is also a silver medalist at the 2015 World Championships and a two-time bronze medalist at the 2016 and 2017 World Championships.

On November 8, the NHL press service recognized Panarin as the second star of the game day, after his club's match against the Detroit Red Wings was completed. Then the Rangers won with a score of 4:1. During the game, Panarin scored one goal and provided two assists, becoming one of the key players of the meeting.
