The Interior Ministry revealed a fraudulent scheme with ads for the sale of red fish and caviar

On the eve of the New Year, scammers create fake accounts in messengers, where they publish information about the alleged sale of red fish and caviar at attractively low prices. It follows from the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on December 20.

According to TASS, which has reviewed the department's materials, scammers post fake photos of salmon, pink salmon, trout and caviar on the created pages, and also offer video reports with alleged packaging of fish delicacies to gullible users studying one-day accounts. In addition, they draw the attention of potential victims to positive feedback from "satisfied" customers.

To place an order, the attackers require their victims to make a full prepayment, and then, after the money arrives, they simply stop contacting, deleting the account in the messenger. As a result, the victims remain without goods and without money.

The number of such calls has doubled since mid-December.

The curator of the Moshelovka platform, Alla Khrapunova, said a day earlier that scammers had developed a new deception scheme, disguising it as the popular online challenge "Secret Santa." They send offers to Russians to exchange gifts, and then they don't send anything in return, or they convince them to make a small contribution that will go to the so-called general fund with insurance, which supposedly will protect them from unscrupulous participants, and then they simply disappear. The woman warned that sometimes in this way the attackers also manage to get personal information about their victims.
