- Putin recounted a conversation with the commander of the Russian Armed Forces about the liberation of Seversk
During the Results of the Year, Russian President Vladimir Putin told a story about how one of the officers in the special military operation zone (SVO) addressed him with the words "hello, brother."
Putin explained that the conversation took place after discussing the situation in the Seversk area, when one of the commanders in the office expressed embarrassment over discussing domestic issues, while his comrade, the commander of the neighboring brigade, continues to remain on the front line.
The President clarified that they were talking about an experienced officer of Dagestani origin, who was described as a soldier loyal to Russia, and offered to contact him directly via military communications.
"He picked up the phone and said, 'Hello, brother!'" Putin said. After a short conversation, the head of state handed the phone to the officer in the office.
Earlier, on December 11, Putin received a detailed report on the liberation of Seversk by the Russian Armed Forces. The meeting was attended by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Sergei Medvedev, Commander of the Southern Group of Troops, and Denis Pirogov, Commander of the 123rd Motorized Rifle Brigade.
As the Russian military told Izvestia, during the operation to liberate Seversk, Russian soldiers advanced towards the railway tracks, disrupting enemy logistics and destroying electronic warfare (EW) equipment. The priority target of the Russian fighters were the take-off points of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
