Zelensky refused to remove the desire to join NATO from the constitution
On December 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky refused to remove the clause on the country's desire for NATO membership from the constitution.
"To be honest, I don't think we need to change the constitution of our state," the Ukrainian agency UNIAN quoted him as saying.
According to the President, this issue must be resolved by the Ukrainian people. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine wants to have security guarantees and believes it deserves them. He also noted that Ukraine does not solve the issue of joining NATO — this is solely the competence of the alliance's member countries.
Earlier in the day, the head of the Kiev regime admitted that the position of individual countries, including the United States, on Ukraine's membership in NATO may change over time.
Prior to this, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the United States, Hungary and Slovakia would not agree to see Ukraine as a member of the alliance. He noted that Ukraine's membership in NATO is a matter of both principle and practice.
