A criminal case has been opened in Moscow over the death of a newborn baby in an inflatable pool. This was announced on December 17 by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.
"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of crimes under Part 2 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal conduct of medical activities"), paragraph "b" of part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements"), — stated in the Telegram channel of the department.
According to the investigation, the suspect, born in 1965, delivered the girl, while not being a medical professional and without higher medical education and qualifications in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. It is noted that the woman was detained, and she will be charged in the near future.
The Investigative Committee added that the investigation had ordered the necessary forensic examinations, including forensic medical ones. Other circumstances of the incident are being established.
Izvestia reported on December 14 that a newborn baby died in Moscow an hour after being born in an inflatable pool. It is specified that the incident occurred on Polina Osipenko Street, where a 27-year-old woman went into spontaneous labor. The baby was born right in the pool, spent about 30 minutes in the water. According to preliminary information, the mother of the deceased child was TikTok blogger Aisha, who has about 1.4 million subscribers.
