The cartoon "Three Sisters" by Russian animation artist Konstantin Bronzit (credited as Timur Kognov) was shortlisted for the Academy Award in the Best Animated Short Film category. The relevant information was published on the official website of the award on December 16.

It is specified that the names of the Oscar nominees will be announced on January 22, and the award ceremony itself will be held on March 15.

As Bronzit told RBC Radio, he decided to use the pseudonym Timur Kognov in the credits of The Three Sisters as a social experiment to see if the picture could succeed without a famous name.

Earlier, on November 17, American actor, director and producer Tom Cruise was awarded the Oscar for outstanding achievements in cinematography. It was noted that, accepting the award, Cruz made a speech in which he appreciated the efforts of all people to develop the film industry, and also declared the "unifying power of cinema."
