Putin awarded soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces who liberated Seversk

On December 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who participated in the liberation of Seversk in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

Putin presented the military with the Gold Star medal of the Hero of Russia. During the ceremony, the Head of state stressed that the operation to liberate this strategically important city was the result of the courage and dedication of Russian soldiers and officers.

"In a very difficult situation, rapidly overcoming the powerful echelon of enemy defenses, you and your fellow soldiers liberated Seversk, a significant Russian city for us. <...> First of all, this is the result of your efforts, great personal courage, dedication of soldiers and officers," Putin said.

He added that thanks to the liberation of Seversk, the Russian army has opened up opportunities for further advancement "on the most important frontiers and directions." Putin called those present at the ceremony "brave warriors, true patriots of the Motherland" and thanked them for their valiant service.

"All of you stand guard over Russia. You protect the security of the country and its citizens. Fight bravely for a decent future for our people," the Russian president stressed.

Putin also expressed confidence that "with such brave people" all the goals of the special military operation (SVO) will be achieved.
