As a result of the liberation of Gerasimovka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian units have strengthened and expanded their foothold on the western bank of the Gaichur River. This was announced on December 17 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Taking control of Gerasimovka became an important stage in consolidating the units of the Vostok group of forces on the western bank of the Gaichur and created conditions for further development of the offensive deep into the Dnipropetrovsk region," the department noted.

During the offensive, the units advanced along the western bank of the river, cleared several strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and took control of a stretch of terrain up to 2 km along the front and up to 1 km deep.

According to the command, two armored combat vehicles, 12 Baba Yaga hexacopters and enemy manpower were destroyed.

The Russian Armed Forces liberated the village of Gerasimovka in the Dnipropetrovsk region earlier that day.
