The most promising point for the creation of a lunar base has been identified. A lunar rover will explore the selected area, which will study the soil on the Moon. This was announced on December 16 by Denis Kutovoy, Deputy Director of the Roscosmos Space Systems Department, as part of the "100 Projects of the Future of Russia" program at the Rossiya National Center.

"The lunar rover explorer will travel through an already selected area defined on the Moon, which is the most interesting from the point of view of creating a lunar base. He will drive there and explore the ground," he said.

Kutovoy added that Roscosmos is currently working on laying the "experimental foundation" for further human space exploration goals, which is an important part of preparing for future missions to the Moon and beyond.

Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, said earlier in the day that the creation of a lunar station powered by a nuclear power plant would open up new prospects for exploring deep space. He noted the strategic importance of the Russian space station, which will provide Russia with leadership in manned space exploration.
