The Russian Federation has allowed a decrease in the use of contact payments in Russia by 2031

In Russia, the use of contact payments may be reduced to a minimum by 2031. This was announced on December 16 by the head of operational and technological support for projects of the National Payment Card System (NSPK, operator of the Mir payment system). Sergey Bobrov during a speech at the NSPK technology conference.

"We are talking about the contact interface in the new cards. <...> By 2031, it is expected that the number of such payments will become quite small," RIA Novosti reports his words.
