A criminal case has been opened against journalist and writer Andrei Soldatov (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) for evading duties on foreign agents. This was announced on December 16 by the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.

"A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evasion from fulfilling duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents")," the agency's Telegram channel says.

It is clarified that while outside of Russia, Soldatov distributes materials without indicating that they were created by a foreign agent. He also participated in the activities of an undesirable organization. In addition, a case was also opened against Soldatov under part 1 of Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

On December 11, it was reported that criminal prosecution was initiated against Dmitry Spirin, the ex-vocalist of the Tarakany group (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) for evading the duties of a foreign agent. It was noted that Spirin had already been brought to administrative responsibility twice during the year under Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.
