Long-range Tu-22m3 bombers of the Russian Military Space Forces (VKS) performed a planned flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Black Sea. This was announced on December 16 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
"Long-range Tu-22m3 bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces performed a scheduled flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Black Sea. Fighter escort was provided by the crews of Su-35s and Su-27 aircraft of the Aerospace Forces," the ministry noted.
It is specified that the flight duration was more than five hours. The Russian Defense Ministry also pointed out that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, as well as the Baltic and Black Seas. In addition, all flights are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace, the ministry stressed.
On November 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crews of long-range Tu-22M3 bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces performed a planned flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. It was clarified that the Russian bombers were accompanied by fighters of the Air Force on part of the route.
