The memorial complex "Alexander Nevsky and his squad", located on the shore of Lake Peipsi in the Pskov region, is located in such a way as to be visible from the NATO countries. This was announced on December 16 by Nikolai Ovsienko, co-author of the creation of the memorial, a member of the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO).

"By creating this memorial, we made sure that it was sufficiently visible from the NATO shore so that they would remember that they had already gone here," he said during the ceremony of awarding prizes to the Russian government in the field of culture, RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to him, the complex serves as a reminder of the failure of the historical attempt of aggression against Russia and is a warning against new such attempts.

"[For the aggressors at that time] it ended badly, there is no need to repeat it," Ovsienko added, stressing that the memorial symbolizes the inviolability of the Fatherland.

On September 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in greeting the participants of the International Sports Games of St. Alexander Nevsky, noted the growing interest of young people in the history of the country. The Head of State noted that the initiative to host the games had received broad support and once again united participants from different regions of the country and foreign countries in St. Petersburg. He also expressed confidence that the games will become a significant and memorable event with a special inspiring atmosphere.
