Ex-deputy head of the Kalinin Machine-building Plant was accused of bribes

Viktor Berstnev, the former deputy head of the Kalinin Machine-Building Plant, was charged with accepting bribes worth 5 million rubles when concluding contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry. This was reported on December 16 in the Main Military Investigation Department (GVSU) of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"The military investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia have opened a criminal case against Viktor Berstnev, former deputy shop chief of the Kalinin Machine—Building Plant," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is specified that charges were brought against the defendant for committing six crimes under paragraph "c" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code and under Part 2 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code ("Taking a bribe"), as well as under paragraph "b" of part 4 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code ("Receiving a bribe by an official on a large scale large-scale bribery").

According to the investigation, in 2021, the state customer and the plant signed a multimillion-dollar contract for the manufacture of special products. Berstnev was responsible for the execution of the contract.

In the period from 2021 to 2025, the suspect received a bribe of more than 5 million rubles from the plant's employees for paying them increased bonuses. It is noted that the terms of the contract were not fulfilled, and this caused especially large-scale damage to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Other circumstances of the incident are being established.

The day before, the Department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol reported that the head of the procurement department of the city administration was detained in Yalta on suspicion of fraud with a municipal land plot and receiving a bribe of 300 thousand rubles. It was noted that a criminal case was opened against the suspect under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud using official position").
