- The Russian Navy will lay down two more diesel submarines of Project 677 Lada in early 2026.
The Russian Navy plans to lay down two more diesel-electric submarines of Project 677 Lada in early 2026. This was announced on December 16 by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Alexander Moiseev, after the flag-raising ceremony on the Velikiye Luki submarine at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg.
"We have accepted another ship, two more at different stages of construction. Contracts have already been signed within the framework of the current state defense order <...> In the near future, at the beginning of next year we will be participants in laying these ships," Moiseev told reporters.
The commander-in-chief of the Navy added that Project 677 Lada is the basis of Russia's non-nuclear submarine fleet.
On November 1, a new Russian nuclear submarine Khabarovsk was launched at the Sevmash Production Association in Severodvinsk. The submarine is designed to protect Russia's maritime borders and protect the country's national interests in various areas of the world Ocean.
The Financial Times (FT) newspaper said on November 9 that the Khabarovsk submarine would become a key problem for the British Navy in the coming years. It is noted that the launch of the Russian nuclear submarine in November provoked a resonance in defense circles.
