- The media announced that the United States was training the "trick" of the Russian S-300 to shoot back.
The US army is creating a new modification of the Patriot anti—aircraft missile system, which will have the ability to hit targets located behind the launcher - an opportunity that has long been realized in the Russian S-300 complexes. This was announced on December 16 by Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
"U.S. Army officials discussed current and planned Patriot capabilities with the Secretary of [War] Pete Hegseth, during which the head of the lower—tier interceptor project, Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Mebes, announced the development of new generations of launchers and missiles," the publication reports.
According to Mebes, new digital simulations show that with the new interceptor, the system will have a "shoulder shot" capability and will be able to attack targets behind it. The magazine notes that the ability to fire 360 degrees around the installation, also known as a "shoulder shot," was first implemented in the Soviet S-300 air defense system, which entered service in 1978.
It is noted that its successor, the Russian S-400, the Chinese HQ-9B and North Korean systems have the same capability. The main factor stimulating the modernization of the Patriot was the increased capabilities of ballistic and cruise missiles of "potential opponents of the United States."
On the eve of The War Zone (TWZ) reported that the missile of the American hypersonic complex Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) Dark Eagle is equipped with a miniature warhead weighing about 13 kg. The publication emphasizes that the main destructive force of a weapon is provided not by the mass of the warhead, but by the kinetic energy of a hypersonic strike. The Dark Eagle has a range of up to 3,500 km and can cover this distance in less than 20 minutes.
