The Ministry of Internal Affairs named the most common methods of fraud by fraudsters in 2025.

The most common methods of deception used by fraudsters in 2025 are the threat of criminal prosecution for allegedly financing terrorism and offering "quick earnings." This was announced on December 16 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

"The third most popular [method of deception] among intruders is deception under the pretext of blocking bank accounts or cards with the requirement to urgently transfer funds to "secure" accounts," she wrote on the Telegram channel.

Also, according to Volk, the top 5 methods include fictitious notifications about inspections of engineering systems, threats of accidents, tax debts and errors in declarations.

Completing the ranking are offers of remote part-time work, reports of problems with a SIM card, the sale of non-existent goods and promises of social benefits on behalf of government agencies.

On the same day, the Department for Combating the Illegal use of information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that fraudsters gain access to the phone screen under the guise of an employer or a security officer. According to the scheme, criminals ask the victim to turn on a screen demonstration and show personal chats on social networks or instant messengers, privacy settings and active sessions, as well as location through mapping services.
