The media reported on equipping the Dark Eagle rocket with a 13-kilogram warhead

The missile of the American hypersonic complex Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) Dark Eagle is equipped with a miniature warhead weighing about 13 kg. This was announced on December 14 by the publication The War Zone (TWZ).

"The Dark Eagle has a warhead up to 30 pounds (13.6 kg — Ed.), which is relatively tiny for long—range weapons - for example, smaller than what is on the AIM-120 air-to-air missile," the material says.

The publication emphasizes that the main destructive force of a weapon is provided not by the mass of the warhead, but by the kinetic energy of a hypersonic strike. The Dark Eagle has a range of up to 3,500 km and can cover this distance in less than 20 minutes.

According to the director of the Office of Hypersonic Weapons and Energy Weapons, Lieutenant General Francisco Lozano, this missile is capable of reaching China from Guam or Tehran from Qatar. Production of the Dark Eagle is currently one unit per month with a plan to increase to two.
