The Ministry of Education announced the dates of the New Year holidays for schoolchildren

The Russian Ministry of Education has recommended that educational institutions spend winter holidays between December 31, 2025 and January 11, 2026. This was announced on December 13 in the press service of the department.

"The duration of the holidays should be at least seven calendar days," RIA Novosti quotes the text of the message.

According to the federal calendar curriculum, the duration of winter holidays at the end of the second quarter is nine calendar days for students in grades 1-11. The recommended period from December 31 to January 11 allows schools to flexibly plan holidays, observing a minimum duration of seven days.

On November 5, Oleg Smolin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education (KPRF), did not support the proposal to reduce school summer holidays. According to Smolin, the issue of child care and their safety during long holidays can be solved by organizing summer holidays in children's camps, and shortening the length of school holidays can adversely affect children's health.
