- Dodik proposed to ban social networks for children under 16 and mobile in schools of RS
On December 10, former leader of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik made a proposal to limit the use of social networks for people under the age of 16 and completely ban mobile phones in schools.
"We can't watch children grow up in front of screens instead of doing it in classrooms, families and communities. If we want to see a healthy and successful childhood, we must protect children," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to Dodik, excessive social media addiction harms children's mental health, leads to addiction, social isolation, harassment on the Internet and problems with concentration. He stressed that this initiative is a matter of responsibility, not politics, and called on Republika Srpska to become a place where children can grow up safely, without the destructive pressure of digital chaos.
Dodik also appealed to all public institutions to support the proposal and jointly find optimal solutions to restore authority to educational institutions, calm in classrooms and ensure a safe childhood for the younger generation.
In Australia, on December 10, for the first time in the world, a law banning the use of social networks by children under the age of 16 came into force. Facebook Instagram and Facebook (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) are banned, among others. TikTok, Alphabet, YouTube, as well as Instagram and Facebook are banned.
