Lamin Yamal, the striker of the Spanish football club FC Barcelona, set a new Champions League record by becoming the most productive player of the tournament among players under the age of 19.

In the match of the sixth round of the general stage, Barcelona defeated Eintracht with a score of 2:1. During the meeting, Yamal scored an assist on Jules Kunde. This assist was the 17th effective action in the Champions League matches for the 18-year-old striker. He has now scored 8 goals and 9 assists, an indicator that allowed him to surpass the previous record holder, Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe.

In the current 2025/26 season, Yamal has played 17 matches in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and 10 assists. Barcelona has 10 points after six rounds and takes 14th place in the overall Champions League standings, Sport-Express reports.

Earlier, on November 30, FC Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi broke the Hungarian-Spanish striker Ferenc Puskas' world record for assists. The record was broken in the semifinal match of the MLS playoffs against FC New York City (5-1). This pass was the 405th of Messi's career.
