International research records a record increase in professional burnout among young employees. Analysts noted that employees who are just starting a career face extremely high levels of stress — significantly higher than representatives of older age groups. This was reported on December 8 in the journal Science X.

Experts attribute the situation to several factors. One of the reasons is the accelerated transformation of work processes due to the introduction of artificial intelligence. Experts noted that modern work environments change faster than employees have time to adapt: hybrid schedules break working ties, automation reduces human involvement in processes, and managers often do not have time to train staff.

The researchers emphasized that burnout is formed when there is a contradiction between expectations and the reality of work. It develops in three directions: fatigue, followed by cynicism and detachment, and finally a feeling of decreased professional effectiveness.

Experts recommended starting recovery with a simple one — returning to human interaction. Regular informal contacts with colleagues help reduce feelings of isolation. Optimizing the calendar, setting work boundaries, and breaking the habit of overworking also provide tangible support.

However, the scientists stressed that individual measures would not solve the problem systematically. The responsibility lies with employers: clear expectations, flexible schedules, workload control, access to psychological support, development of mentoring mechanisms and creation of an environment where employees can learn and receive feedback. According to experts, these steps create a more stable and supportive work environment for all age groups.

Psychologist Ekaterina Yemelyanova told Izvestia on December 4 that modern people are increasingly faced with a condition where they do not have the strength and cannot force themselves to work. According to her, in this case, laziness can be a way to resolve an internal dispute: one part of the personality longs for realization and recognition, the other is afraid not to endure potential failure.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
